run RFK a few times for some good drops, run Gnomer a few times to get a nice 1h sword that drops there, theres also a nice lvl 28 dagger there as well.
at level 34 get the quest chain to get 1h sword called: Sword of Serenity (might be a different quest for horde) it is 30 DPS and owns a$$ for a lvl 34.
other than that…. check AH for alot of the stuff, but basically everything your wearing needs to be upgraded. Look for stuff with ONLY Agility and Stamina. Maybe a little bit of Intellect.

Winterspring Frostsaber Question

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Loyalty always takes exp gain to level.
Or more appropriately, killing mobs that would give you
An appearance of a god to a human; a divine manifestation.
TheoWiki | PvP Forum
Red Wings: 25 – 19 – 9I recently attained level 60 as my Night Elf Hunter, and while I was questing around Winterspring I fumbled across one of those purple and white tigers I’ve seen as pets once in awhile, Winterspring Frostsabers. Back of my mind went… “Oo, I’m 60… I can tame this now!” So I did it, if for no other reason than it’s pretty and I thought it would be nice to have in the stable for when I wanted to just travel with it, or whatnot.
Little did I know at the time how stubborn this cat is! I’ve been keeping her well fed at happy status (125 damage, gaining loyalty) and she’s been at my side for damn near 4 hours now and hasn’t gained a single level in loyalty. That means no training points to learn new abilities… and she’s eating my wallet alive, literally, with food costs and fishing/meat hunting time because I can’t raise her loyalty to lower her food demand. Have I gotten in over my head taming this pretty kitty? I almost wonder if the thing can gain loyalty at all, and if so how long it will really take. If anyone’s ever tamed one of these beauty’s before I’d love to hear if you fared any better than I did, lol. Thanks in advance for any helpful commentary. -~True strength is not found in steel or magic, strength is found in the convictions of the mind and heart.~

Stamina or Resistance?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

One suggestion would be to get multiple pets. You can have up to three. Train one to be a tank pet for instances. Train the others for other specialties. For example, I’m currently working on a pet that will have the highest fire resistance that I will use primarily for farming fire elementals.
As far as Stamina vs. Resistance, if you’re going for an all purpose pet, I’d put as much as you can into armor and stamina, then use the rest to give a boost to one resistance. In general, I think you’re better off putting points into stamina over resistance. Even if you max out a resistance, you’re still only going to use that resistance a fraction of the time given that only a fraction of the mobs hit with that school of magic. So, IMO, for an all purpose pet.
I’m looking for some opinions.
My pet boar just hit level 70 last night and now I’ve got to decide what to do with his training points. Currenly, I have all but one of them used up, but along with that is 120 (?) points in maximum Arcane resistance. (I don’t remember why I picked Arcane…it made sense at the time and I haven’t retrained him since I got to Outland).
Now I’m thinking of retraining him to make him a solid all-around solo tank with reasonable survivability in instances without have to respec him for each one. I plan on spending some time in the Elemental Plateau area (currently undercamped on my server), which means that Fire resistance might be a benefit. By the same token, Fire resistance obviously does nothing for me against other forms of magic.
If I’m not mistaken, the bonus to his HP pool would be fairly mediocre if I put the 120 (?) points from resistance into Stamina, but I’m not certain.
Any suggestions? Would you choose stamina over magic resistance if you were hoping to avoid frequent retraining, or is there a particular kind of magic you find yourself facing a lot more than others at level 70 that makes having resistance a consistant benefit?-I tink I made an angry poo-poo!

Heroic Instance Question

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Not saying its not a little better then most, I’m saying that its not worth it running heroic mech 8 to 10 times for it(thats one per night, 1-2 hour depending on your group). You’ll most likely be happy with the Abacus off the endboss in mech.
As far as the neck and cloak, if your talking about the Aran drops, they’re not clear upgrades. The kara neck has more sta but no tohit and the cloak has less AP but some tohit+. I would and have passed on them so a guildie could geta good upgrade.

its the best damn trinket for +dmg for a long time.
and the neck as well as the cloak are replaceable in kara, the brooch isnt.
also, check my pre-raid gearlist (link in sig) for hunter loot and a list of epics is also included.- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person.

Farm heroic mech, underbog or SP for badges. 25 badges gets you a neck piece(vile something) or a blood knight cloak, both are better then anything in kara.Heroics are cake.
Its easiest to find groups for heroic SP and Mechanar. You get a nice neck piece off the boss in SP and some nice gloves from the boss in heroic mech. Get 41 badges to get your bloodlust brooch. I dont reccomend spending badges on the other equipment because you can get better stuff in mind posting what Heroic Instances to run that gives better hunter loots, also what should I be worried about as a hunter, in the Heroic Instances? what gems should i put ?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Quote:No, SV spec go for other pants. and Quote:agreed. if you are SV then get glads pants.
I’m sorry, but it’s not like this is an either/or option. The Midnight Legguards are not terrible pants. It’s not like someone can choose between these and the Gladiators pants. Obviously, if you could, the choice would be clear. But, if the choice is between Midnight Legguards and inferior blues, then equip them and gem them until you can get something better (which may take a while).
IMO, either one of the options of gems OP was looking at would work just fine. The difference between the +4 crit or 8AP for the third gem is if you are SV then get glads pants. any other spec go for 16 ap-Caldone: “KDenelor is not dumb” – Quite possibly the nicest thing ever said about me…

Trap Question

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

I’ve noticed the trap breaks due to exit of combat. If the target has other aggro options (your pet, a buddy, etc.) combat is not ended and only you go out of combat, the trap seems to stay active as all aggro is not lost. The trap should only break if ALL aggro is lost on all active party targets (combat terminated). This might explain why it still works in instances as well since you are likely in a group and the target would aggro onto the group.
This process is also part of a ‘safe’ pull. If the mob can’t see the group to aggro onto them, you can FD and all mobs (in case of wrong or over pull) run back to starting position, freeze breaks if you used it. At least, that has been my
Ruling Warlord of the Space Monkey Empire
Hunter: Thalika & Morris the Cat (owner of aforementioned Hunter) if you are in solo play and your pet (or no other characters) have any threat on the mob, when you feign he has no one to target, so gets reset and evades till he gets back home.-Knock, Knock.
Who’s there?
Go Fck yourself. This has always happend in solo play. When your out questing or farming and you feign your ice trap will break as your aggro gets reset. This is normal and has been happening for as long as i have been playing.
As for in an instance. if you have a mob on ice and feign it will not break the trap.
in this recent patch the only nerf to traps has been that you cannot have two traps sprung at once. This is going to be changed back soon as im sure many have already heard.

Pet Skill Points

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Look at your formula from your OP. Level (Loyalty-1). So if your pet is Loyalty level 6, you will gain 5 points pet level. Every level. Without question. You just might not notice it as the points required to train new skills are getting larger and larger and you’re still only gaining 5 points a level.-Nowak – Active (Main – Hunter)
Darkmerlin – Active (Alt – Mage)
Stalknkill – Active (Alt – Rogue)That I do know. I have had my pet since level 20, I have just noticed that the last few levels he has gained very few skill points. He gained 150 at level 30, I trained the skills, but since then he has only gained about 20 points. I was just wondering if they only gain the chunks every 10 levels instead of each level.
-Panakeia – 77 Shaman – Uther (US)Remember that skills pets have when you train them will remove skill points, meaning that when it’s tamed it will start with a negative number of PASSENGER OF FOOT HEAVE IN SIGHT, TOOTLE THE HORN. TRUMPET HIM MELODIOUSLY AT FIRST, BUT IF HE STILL OBSTACLES YOUR PASSAGE THEN TOOTLE HIM WITH VIGOUR.”

Now I understand the "Huntard" name

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Joined a PUG run last night for slave pens. The group consisted of a 61 warrior, 62 holy pally, 62 feral druid (main tank), 65 huntard and me 64 hunter. I joined the LFG tool for ramp/bf/sp but when I got invited into the group the huntard wanted to do underbog.
I’m thinking we are too low of a group level to finish UB which should have been my first sign but everyone convinced the huntard to go SP in the end. Then just as I get to the summoning stone, I see the huntard joins an EotS BG. Should have been clue 2 but after I tell him to drop out he does and all is seemingly good.
Since this is my first hunter and he is a level higher than me I inspect him to see what cool loot I have in store for me in the next level.
Clue 3: He has the lobotomizer for one of his weapons:
I told him, nice purple weapon but it really isnt doing anything for his stats as a hunter, got no response:
Clue 4: chest piece is a green of the bear (41 sta 27 str) how anyone can have a crappy chest piece given the easy starting quests in HFP is beyond me.
Nonetheless we head on into SP. Then he starts talking about how much more gold he has than any of us, and that he has 3 mounts already. Then he starts yapping about how his pet (a bird) is so much better than our warrior and he keeps telling the warrior how much he sux. Granted our warrior wasn’t the best, or even average but that still isn’t a reason to trash someone IMO.
I jump in and say hey man, don’t be a dck, the dude is learning. Then I get the typical response, “ya I got one, you want to suck it.” I wasn’t even going to try at that point, left group and hearthed.
I check out mr huntards armory, 500 RAP at level 65?????????? How is that even possible. Times like that where I wish I had misdirect, hopefully I have learned my lesson and pick up on the numerous clues before wasting my time.

Jaguero Stalker level

Monday, March 1st, 2010

From my memory, those jaguars are level 50ish.
Also, Rank 3 requires a level 50 pet.
source
So even if you could find a pet that has it, you wont be able to learn prowl 3 yet.- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person.

I’ve read conflicting information regarding the Jaguero Stalker in STV. Petopia and Wowhead say it’s leve 41, but others say 50+. Reading the comments on Alla is even more confusing!
Does anybody know what the correct level range is for this beast, and does it still teach Prowl level 3? I only want it for it’s Prowl!
Also, Petopia states the following: “but if the skills are too high for your level then you will also lose them the next time you zone or log out”. How can I find out if Prowl rank 3 is too high for a level 43 hunter? Will the skill just disappear if I zone or log?
Thanks
