DK Overall DPS is Killin Me

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Let them have their trash DPS. Single target boss DPS is all that matters.
But as you asked, well geared DK, boomkin, elemental shaman, mages, ret pallies all win on trash pulls since the volley nerf. I also wait a little longer than many though, as I hate repair bills. only lvl 62, but I’m right there with you. Dks seem to rock me on the metersI am A SV hunter and am really enjoying it but my gosh, is anyone else getting owned by DK’s for overall raid damage. I pull down just over 4K on Patch and on most boss fights in 10 and 25 Naxx runs I top the charts for DPS. Overall, I seem to always finsh under a well geared DK. Their oveall AOE seems imposssible to beat by the end of the raid.
I guess I am mostly venting but also I am wondering two things. First, am I alone and second, maybe if someone has found a good way to compansate for our AOE Nerf.
During the 4-5 mob trash pulls in Naxx, I tend to throw down a few volley’s and when the pack drops to 2-3, I start launching my The problem is that on the second or third trash pull I find myself doing half of the above sequence in reverse order and in Viper to build my mana up. To be honest, with over half of our DPS on 10 or 25 doing over 3K there is unually not enough time to run in a trap especially when I am utilizing my sniper from 30-35 feet away.

Glyph of mend pet

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

For @s sake man, think of Isyris’ environment, and her baby!
They’ll have an enraged mom to deal with and that can’t be good for the baby (or her husband for that matter)- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person.

Growl Gargle gargle Scratch back Eat Salmon grunt snort DanceI have 2/2 Improved Mend Pet and have been using that glyph until recently. aharter I havent played in a while The

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I find this happening whenever I go bk to aharter I haven’t played in a while. The worst, though, is when I swih between my hunter and my warlk. They have somewhat similar play-styles (send in pet,ast some stuffshoot, then loot the body), and sometimes Iah myself trying toast spells or abilities from the otherharter. For example, I have a mro for my hunter thatasts Hunter’s Mark and orders my pet to attk, and I use it on pretty mh every single fight. The key that mro’s bound to is the same key I use for Life Tap on my warlk. So… I find myself trying to lauh my VW and Life Tapping, or cidentally lauhing my boar at a new monster when my mana gets low and I try to Life Tap on my hunter. :P
Happens to me too ,when I take a break from wow. I’m also lvling a warrior for pve purposes ,but seems like i gotta log on lk otherwise I’ll get beat by mages , I mean wtf ..mages..

It makes swihing between Warlk and hunter easy.

legs, i suggest tyhe nromaers

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Thanks :P
FOr a pair of boe legs, i suggest tyhe nromaer’s leggings, they are a blue boe world drop with (not positive on stats) +10 stam some int and some shadow damageosts about 60g on ah andombined withlefthide, the stamomes to +40 whh = 400 extra health for the life taps and everything.
Don’t like your sp mh but that’s up to you. For Survivability you need STA, STA you’re lking bad on your itemset. I was insane at 39 (often top Damageharts in AB) and had very little +spell. For Damage all it takes is DoTing everything around you, for KBs all it takes is SBs or DL (I prefer DL but it draws a bit more attention.) I’d either go Full Affltion or Full Demo. Get 55 Shadow Mastery or 55 Master Demo with Scy out. lol they do the same thing anyways. With Affltion useoEx on any trouble makers (Amp it if they’re REAL trouble makers.) Fear works good also for getting the worst off you, but most of the time it’s not nessary. Here’s a quk bit of STA stuff Iould find, though. Robes of the Lh Nromaer Leggings – Spellthread if you got theash Deathmage Sash Silky Spiderape Revelosh’s Gloves – obnoxious to get, worth it if you plan to stay 39 Triune Amulet Theres alot more but I gotta go sleep now…lass in the mornin. Keep in mind youan find survivability through STA, not just a “sced VW”, and with a good gearset in general you will not have trouble topping anyharts.
yeah, as stated by me and tz, nromaer leggins are the way to go for 39 twinks, with spell thread orlefthide they will be perft.

ready to tank everything up tourator as far

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Your doing well for your progression. Your ready to tank everything up tourator as far as your gear goes. Oe you get some kara runs in and pk up the brers off attumen, gloves and nk off maiden, belt and trinket off moroes, and helm off of the play event you will be set to start taking the later bosses. (edit: also the boots of elusion random drop, those things are freaking sweet) urator hits slow but hard. Imp thundelap makes him fairly trivial to tank. Bk when I was at your level of progression a single holy paladinould keep me up with flash heals thanks to him hitting so slow. urator is just a dpshk. Bit of adve though, don’t use a hateful bolt tank. Imo it’s just not worth losing another dps in that fight. His hateful boltsan be dealt with easy enough. When evoomes up have allombo point dps go dirtly to him while everyone else burns the last add. Youan have the lks keep dots on him the entire time if you want. Good think to have though is everyone have 10k raid buffed hp. Sorry didn’t mean to get off on a tangent. Bottom line, you are where you need to be given your guilds progression.
Awesome! Thanks Jimpadan for the ‘gear to look forward to’ breakdown, that helps a lot to know what bosses will help me. What if I would not get those, and the guild wants toontinue? Do I go? My lk on Instae to Warrior drop ratio has just been in the toilet. Ian’t buy a drop. Devilsharkape I did get very lky one shotted. Like I said in hopes of getting my ep shield from Shatt, I’ve been running a lot of A and bot. I’m still hoping to get thathest item with the +50 Hp on it. There’s also another trinket that I was trying to get… I’ll have to look at my guide I’m following, I’m pretty sure it’s from one of those.

"shaman" is best suited

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

In my opinion, the role of “shaman” is best suited (and filled) by a troll, however I really like the way my Draenei looks, so its all what you like and besides the rial bonuses, there’s no big differee. An elemental build will not shine until the upper levels, 60+ in mostases. From there youan really start to get great +dmg gear and mp5 or +spelrit. Until then, I strongly rommend using Enhaement sp, and the talent tree there is pretty self-explanitory. Leather armor til 40, then Mail. Bause of mana-effiey issues that I have, bause of not being an complished ahemist, I willast a lightning bolt 3 ranks lower than the max untilleaasting prs from arit, thenasthain lightning (on a boss or 1 mob) or the highest rank lightning bolt, rinse and repeat tyring to keep my mana high. I also wahasters and earthshk when nessary. Basally I’m a mana and spell dmg buff for my group along with spammed lightning bolts, andan off heal when nessary.
great, thanks for the above replies. i see people spam bolts and an casional spam ofL. any other fighting methods
As an elemental shammy, should i invest stuff in Faon or Eagle. Some my friends suggest me to put into Gorilla stuff instead. Any ideas? **Legend** ….. of the Faon –> Agility and Intellt ….. of the Gorilla –> Strength and Intellt ….. of the Eagle —> Stamina and Intellt Does anyone like me who plays a elemental shammy spam 2 lightning bolts or even 3 lightning bolts and a flame shk and melee the mobs down? It seems weird for me melee bause elemental shammy playstyle for me seems so enhaement way. Am i doing it right?

Blizzard Community Summit Details

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Today Curse had the opportunity to participate in Blizzard's second fansite summit, and one of the treats of the day was a chance to sit down and have lunch with Blizzard developers — including Jeffrey Kaplan and Tom Chilton — both Lead Designers of the game.

We had a chat with Kaplan in a round table-style discussion where he shared a few pieces of information previously not known.  First of all, the big news: the Ashbringer storyline is currently planned to be resolved in patch 3.3.  Now the bad news: you'll be sitting on the edge of your seats for a few months, because when that patch is coming out wasn't shared.

From there Kaplan spoke a bit more about the patch cycle for Wrath of the Lich King.  Arthas is the story that will culminate the expansion, but there are a few surprises planned that he wasn't willing to discuss just yet.

3.1 — the first major content patch of the expansion, which is already done according to Kaplan — will release the Ulduar 10 and 25-person raid instances, with 3.2 containing that secret surprise raid instance, and 3.3 likely being the patch that introduces Icecrown Citadel.

Next up someone at the table asked about the dance studio, how that came to be, and when we can expect it.  “After Lich King releases for sure,” Kaplan said.  The team wants to do it, but adding even a single dance animation for a race takes as much time as creating a new creature for the game.  So for every development cycle, they must weigh which will be used more.  However, the ultimate goal is to get the dance studio system in, and one of the desires is to allow players to not just choose a new dance, but string together multiple dance moves to create their dance.

Another future goal is to add more substance to the guild system.  While the team feels the new calendar feature added with Wrath of the Lich King offers a lot of new possibilities to guild planning and organization, there is still work to be done.  To that end, there are ideas being tossed around related to Guild Ratings, where a guild receives a rating based on their PvE and PvP accomplishments.

We then ended the discussion with a topic of some of our favorite raid encounters, and one member of the table mentioned C'thun.  Kaplan then went on to tell us how the C'thun encounter is one of his favorites to actually watch, because it's one of the more enjoyable encounters in the game to sit back and watch players raid since so much is going on.

We were also treated to a story of the C'thun “stomach” mechanic and how it was originally planned for the Onyxia encounter.  “But we'd already thrown the kitchen sink in,” Kaplan said [in terms of encounter mechanics], so Blizzard decided to save the idea for later.  It turned out C'thun was a perfect fit for it.

We were also treated to a tour of the Blizzard campus, but unfortunately weren't allowed into any of the development area as the World of Warcraft team is already working on something new.  Kaplan mentioned that they're always 3 patch cycles ahead of the live game in terms of content design, as well as typically working on the next expansion.  Take that for what you will!

We'll hopefully have some pictures from the visit to the Blizzard campus up soon.

Another World

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

For a few years now, there's been this assumption that massively multiplayer online games are the logical future of not just PC gaming, but all gaming. World of Warcraft's 11 million subscribers and the slew of imitators that followed it seemed to promise an endless money fountain.
They've taken a lot of revenue out of the game industry in general and concentrated it into a few specific areas. For instance, in the 'old days' the demographics were that 20% of the PC gaming population represented 80% of the revenue of PC games. But now, a good chunk of that hardcore are subscribed to an MMO and are no longer buying six to 12 games a year, but buying two to three games a year, which is a huge hit.
Other publishers smelled gold and a ton of big-name MMO launches appeared: War-hammer Online, Age of Conan, Hellgate and Tabula Rasa. Two of those are dead already. The smart money thinks Conon's on borrowed time. And, just a few weeks back, EA revealed that Warhammer's promising near-million subscribers have fallen to 300,000. Suddenly the future's not so bright. On the other hand, there are two opposite poles of MMOdom in the pipeline. On the big budget, mass-appeal end of the scale is Bioware's Star Wars: The Old Republic, which could be the first mainstream MMO to truly move beyond the World of Warcraft model. On the other is mesmerizing one-man art-project Love, which is a heartening signal that MMOs have a lot of new places to go.
On a third hand, MMOs continue to do absolutely stonking business in Korean and China, and as well as that more casual, kid-charming games such as Maple Story and Neopets have massive player bases. The former, across all its various global variants, has a startling 50 million subscribers. So while Warcraft clones might be in shorter supply than anticipated over the next few years, there's a good chance that browser-based and/or low-spec casual MMOs will do far more to define the future of PC gaming.
